TACOMA, Wash. -Â Throughout the academic year, GoLutes.com will profile the Pacific Lutheran University senior student-athletes that are embarking on their final collegiate season. Today's installment features PLU football student-athlete
Wesley Nixon.
A versatile athlete, Wes Nixon has done a little bit of everything during his college career. He's been on the PLU football team for the past four seasons but also has competed on the baseball diamond and as a member of the track & field team, doing sprints, relays, and the horizontal jumps. The Fife, Washington native has passions beyond the athletic fields, including a blossoming modeling career complete with his own modeling account on Instagram: @nixonmodel.
"Wes has grown tremendously as a leader in my three years with him. He's developed his influence by controlling and improving the things that he can control each day," said Head Coach
Brant McAdams. "He's been a great example to his teammates about how to set big goals, see vulnerability as a strength, how to encourage others, and have fun along the way. Wes' impact extends beyond the program to other parts of our department and campus where he's been involved with SAAC and FCA while excelling as a student in the classroom. I can't wait to see what his final season of eligibility holds for him and his teammates!"Â
Nixon's favorite memory in Lute athletics was traveling to California with the team during his freshman year. He played his first college football game in sunny California, and then went to the Six Flags amusement park with his teammates. Off the field, Nixon enjoys living in a house with his teammates
Alex Rendon,
Cody Brown,
Jacob Revell,
Ryan Flood, and
Liam Nabors.Â
