Brown fondly recalls traveling with the team to California, and being able to spend time with his teammates off the field. On the field, he and his teammates have benefited from the leadership of their coaches.
"They are great role models who have taught me many life lessons, including time management, handling adversity, and creating relationships with teammates," said Brown.
Brown is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and enjoys living in a house with five of his best friends and teammates.
On the gridiron, the Running Back and Portland native has seen action in each of the last three seasons. In 2019, Brown carried the main load for the Lutes on the ground, racking up 577 rushing yards and three touchdowns, leading the team and ranking second in the Northwest Conference in yards per carry (4.2). Brown was named First Team All-NWC last year, accumulating 684 yards of total offense in eight games.
"Cody is the embodiment of resilience and work ethic in our program," said Head Coach
Brant McAdams.
"Cody had a disappointing stat line on limited opportunities as a sophomore and resolved to maximize every opportunity that came his way in the future. He did everything he was asked and more through the off season plus some and turned that work into a standout performance his junior year. And again, through the uncertainty of what the COVID-19 pandemic would do to our season, Cody has maximized every single training, meeting, and practice while the young guys on our roster watch and take notes. Leadership requires credibility. Cody has it in droves."
Brown will graduate with a degree in Business with a concentration in HR and Management, and plans to move home to Portland, Oregon and work at his dad's home development company.
