TACOMA, Wash. - Pacific Lutheran University senior football student-athlete
Ryan Lusk is facing the end of his career as an athlete, but plans to follow his love of football and become a coach or a university Athletic Director.
Â
Lusk's favorite memory from his time on the Lute football team was during his sophomore season. PLU traveled to George Fox University for an away game, and Lusk had the opportunity to play against his cousin, a defensive end for George Fox. It was the first time Lusk competed against his cousin, and he had a blast.Â

Lusk believes his experience in PLU football has prepared him to work in future team environments and network throughout his career. Throughout his college career, Lusk's teammates have been a constant source of support. He considers his teammates to be his lifelong friends, and is grateful for the fun memories he has made.Â
"We have this policy through the players of being a "Yes Man" as in if it's a tough week and a few teammates are going out to get dinner or go bowling or something then you say "yes" to get away from the stress for an hour or so to relax yourself," Lusk said.Â
On the field the Buckley, Washington native has played in 15 games over the past three seasons. That includes, making 12 starts as a versatile offensive lineman, starting as a right guard, right tackle, and left tackle. In 2019, Lusk started seven of the Lutes' nine games.
"As Ryan has approached his senior year, he has sought out every leadership development opportunity that could. He's helped hammer home the message to his younger teammates that how you show up in football is a microcosm of how you show up everywhere," said Head Coach
Brant McAdams.
"He's embraced a leadership role in the classroom for our first years, on the offensive line, in the department, and on campus. He's not afraid of a challenge and he thrives on feedback. Two things that will carry him far in life." Â
Lusk was also a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He enjoyed LollaPLUooza every year because of the great weather, music, and time spent away from his studies connecting with his friends.Â
Lusk will graduate with a degree in Business with concentrations in Management and Human Resources, with hopes to attend graduate school for sports management to achieve his career goals of becoming a coach or Athletic Director at a university.
