"Malik has been a great addition to our program. He is a Western Washington native who stretched his wings coming out of high school, but ultimately wanted to finish his academic and athletic career closer to home," said Head Coach
Brant McAdams.
"Malik is a great example of PLU being a strong draw for the best student-athletes in the PNW. I can't speak to his development yet, but I can speak to his desire to be great and be a part of elevating the team around him."
Prior to coming to PLU, White spent three seasons at Aurora University in suburban Chicago. The running back played in all 11 games last fall, helping the Spartans win the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championship and advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Last fall, White had seven carries while making six tackles on special teams. Now in a Lute uniform, White is hoping to make a big impact on the program this spring.
White enjoyed getting to know the team in off-season seven-on-seven training, and is excited to be back on the field and involved in Lute athletics.
"Athletics has taught me that not everything will go your way, and in order to change those outcomes, you have to press on and be determined every step of the way," White said.
In his free time, White customizes shoes and is interested in joining the PLU track & field team or chess club.
White will graduate with a degree in Criminal Justice. He hopes to continue playing football before joining a Forensic Science Department to be a blood splatter analyst.
