Missey's favorite football memory was playing against Willamette University last season. He saw his teammates "click and enjoy the game." It was a game he threw for 319 yards and five touchdowns for a 45-20 Lute win. Missey also cherishes the opportunity to travel with his teammates and spend quality time together before games.
Â
Through his years on the football team, Missey believes he has learned life lessons and skills that will carry through into his post-graduation life. He is grateful for his teammates and coaches who have pushed him to become a better version of himself.
Â
"I think athletics at PLU has prepared me to be a productive and successful member of society," Missey said. "One of the most valuable things I have learned through them is the true value of relationships and how important they are."
Â
The Spanaway, Washington native played eight games under center for the Lutes in 2019, passing for 1,382 yards and 13 touchdowns. The senior found his stride in the final two games of the year. Combining for 730 yards and nine touchdowns against Pacific University and Willamette University. Prior to 2019, Missey spent two seasons at NAIA Montana State University-Northern, throwing for 440 yards and a pair of touchdowns along with two rushing touchdowns.
Â
"I'm proud of the way that Bryce has grown over the last year," said Head Coach
Brant McAdams. "Our definition of Mindset is to "learn from feedback, failure, and forgiveness with commitment to effort and growth that are unceasing." Bryce has had his share of success in his first year at PLU, but I'm most proud of how he's dealt with failure. Leadership isn't displayed just when things are going well. It's displayed when things are most challenging. He has made some strong connections with his team because of it. Can't wait to see it pay off through a memorable final chapter in our program!"Â
Â
Missey will graduate in the spring with a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance, and a minor in Kinesiology and Data Science.
