MCMINNVILLE, Ore. — Archie Caldwell scored twice as the Pacific Lutheran University men's soccer team defeated Linfield University 3-0 on Saturday in Northwest Conference action.
Caldwell opened the scoring in the 38th minute on an assist by
Alex White. His goal came off of a corner kick that was then headed twice before Caldwell put it in.
He scored again in the 66th minute on an assist from
Brandt Kelly, threading his way through the back line for the shot. Caldwell has three goals on the season.
Kelly then scored his fifth goal of the season in the 89th minute on an assist from
Keegan Dolan. Kelly lined up from distance and hammered the shot home.
The Lutes (8-2 overall, 5-0 NWC) outshot the Wildcats 22-4, including 10-1 in shots on goal.
Lucas Hempen made one save in goal to earn the shutout.
The win keeps the Lutes undefeated in conference play. They will face Willamette University at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Salem, Ore.
