Chaffin Nets First Career Rushing TD in Setback to #7 Wildcats

PUYALLUP, Wash. - Darius Chaffin scored his first collegiate rushing touchdown but its wasn't enough as the host Pacific Lutheran University football team fell 52-7 to seventh-ranked Linfield University on Saturday in a Northwest Conference clash at Sparks Stadium.

Chaffin found paydirt with 6:16 left in the second quarter, capping off a seven-play, 60-yard drive. Chaffin started the drive with a five-yard run followed by a 12-yard scamper, before hitting Jace Keim on a 30-yard completion. Chaffin scurried for a 17-yard pickup before dashing seven yards for the score, breaking up the Wildcats' (6-0, 4-0 NWC) run of 31 consecutive points.

Linfield featured a balanced attack against the Lutes, racking up 229 yards in the air and 189 yards on the ground to secure the program's six consecutive win.

Kord Tuttle finished with a game-high 12 tackles while Ashton Barton registered nine tackles, including six solo takedowns and one TFL. Jared Elwin made nine tackles while Kalen Davis-White had eight. The Lutes recorded three sacks on the day courtesy of Max Larson, Nico Golla, and Tyler Perpignan.

Punter Max Boekenoogen blasted eight punts for 327 yards, averaging 40.9 yards per kick, including a 48-yarder.

The Lutes (2-4, 1-3 NWC) return to the gridiron next Saturday, traveling to Salem, Oregon to face Willamette University. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
