Men’s Soccer Season Ends in Round of 32

Box Score TACOMA, Wash. – After advancing in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history and winning a fourth-straight Northwest Conference championship, the Pacific Lutheran University men's soccer team saw its season end this afternoon at East Field.  The Lutes went up 1-0 on the University of Redlands, but the Bulldogs recovered for a 4-1 victory.

PLU got on the scoreboard in the 13th minute when Cris Lozano was fouled in the box by a Redlands defender.  Craig Johnson took the penalty kick for the Lutes and put it home just as he did yesterday to open penalties against Trinity University.

Ethan Kovach evened the score in the 23rd minute for the Bulldogs and Spencer Palmer put home the game-winner in the 44th minute.

The Lute offense was held in check all afternoon and mustered just eight shots to Redlands' 18.  Down 2-1 at halftime, PLU managed just three shots in the second frame and didn't get a shot on goal until there was just 49 seconds left in the contest.

The home team hung around until Arian Mogharei made it 3-1 in the 77th minute, and Jamie Dulle added some extra insurance in the 81st

PLU finishes the season with a 14-6-1 mark.  The Lutes produced 12 All-Northwest Conference selections, advanced in the NCAA Tournament for the first time and won their fourth-consecutive NWC crown.  Defender Alex White was also named Academic All-District last week.
