Softball Wins Twice in Tripleheader

TACOMA, Wash. – The Pacific Lutheran University softball busted out the bats on Saturday, scoring 27 runs against Willamette University in three games against the Bearcats.  The Lutes won 8-0 in Game 1 before coming up short 10-5 in Game 2.  PLU saved its best for last though in Game 3 with a 14-2 victory.

Game 1
It was all Lutes in the morning hours on Saturday.  After Mari Foster reached on error to start the home half of the first inning, Cailey Collado blasted a two-run homer to left field.  Later in the inning, catcher Casey Wright connected on a two-run single to right and Anna Foster doubled to left to make it 6-0 after the first inning.

With senior Kennedy Robillard on the mound that was more than enough run support. Robillard improved to 3-0 on the season, tossing a complete game, three-hit shutout.  She produced six strikeouts and didn't walk a batter in five innings, while needing just 84 pitches.

Chaella Galapon got into the mix in the third inning, blasting a home run to left to put the finishing touches on the win.

Game 2

Lute starter Z Ellis was touched up for seven hits and four runs in 3.1 innings pitched, and Marley Dyer gave up three runs and failed to record an out in relief.  Robillard ended up getting the final 11 outs, with four coming via the strikeout.

PLU made a late rally in the bottom of the seventh, scoring three runs off of Game 1 starter and Game 2 winner Shaye Mott, but they had dug themselves to deep a hole.

Erin McGrath singled up the middle to score Mari Foster, while Anna Foster singled in McGrath and Mikayla Chun hit a sacrifice fly to score Kayla Terlecki before the rally was cut short.

Mari Foster and McGrath both had three hits in Game 2, while Anna Foster and Collado each had a pair.

Game 3

She finished the game with six RBI.
