Seven-Match Win Streak Snapped by D2 Falcons

SEATTLE — The Pacific Lutheran University men's soccer team came up just short against NCAA Division II Seattle Pacific University on Saturday, falling 3-1 at Interbay Stadium and snapping a seven-match win streak.

Dane Helle scored his third goal of the season off an assist by Robby Guyer in the 49th minute to tie the game at 1-1. Helle was left alone on the left side of the goal box and beat the keeper who couldn't get enough on the shot to stop it.

The Falcons (1-1 overall) scored the game-winner in the 54th minute on a penalty kick by Titus Grant. SPU added a third goal less than 30 seconds later to put the game away.

The Falcons out shot the Lutes 17-16 overall, but the Lutes held the edge 8-7 in shots on goal.

Lucas Hempen made four saves in goal for the Lutes (8-3).

Pacific Lutheran plays at Saint Martin's University at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
