TACOMA, Wash. – The Pacific Lutheran University football team recently hosted a large showcase camp on campus, attended by about 265 prospective student-athletes and 40 coaches from across the country, and is gearing up to put on its Skills Development Camp on July 18.

"After a year without summer camps, it was great to get back out on our fields to provide Washington High School football players with one of the best showcase opportunities in front of college coaches from around the nation," said PLU Head Coach Brant McAdams. 
 
Braving the sultry conditions of the recent heatwave, the Lutes hosted a showcase/evaluation on the morning of Sunday, June 27 that was attended by over 16 coaching staffs.  All Divisions of the NCAA and the NAIA were represented, including Power 5 programs University of Washington, University of Michigan, Oklahoma University and Oregon State University.  Ivy League schools Cornell University and Harvard University visited campus, as well as local programs, Eastern Washington University, Central Washington University and Simon Fraser University. 
 
The Lutes' final camp this summer will be held on Sunday, July 18 for all 9^th-12^th graders.  This camp will emphasize fundamentals and techniques taught to PLU football student-athletes.  For six hours, the campers will be focused on improving skills and mindset for the upcoming fall season.  All campers will be in helmet and shoulder pads and it is open to all positions.  Each student-athlete will be provided with lunch and a t-shirt. 
 
"It's a development day that gives players the ability to be fully immersed into the coaching style of our PLU football staff," said McAdams.  "We have great coaches at PLU and this is a day we really get to showcase that."
