TACOMA, Wash. – The Pacific Lutheran University men's basketball team won their third home game this week and improved to 7-0 inside Olson Gymnasium this season as they edged out Lewis & Clark College 67-56 on Saturday night.
Leading by three, 51-48 with 7:48 remaining in the second half, the Lute defense took it up a notch, holding the Pioneers to just eight points for the rest of the contest. For the game, PLU held Lewis & Clark to just 34 percent shooting from the field and 2-for-18 from long range.
The Lutes relied on a trio of seniors to take them home in the second half as
Tyler Ashmore,
Seth Hall and
Jordan Thomas combined to score 31 straight points until
Brett Williams cashed in four straight free throws to finish the scoring. Hall had 22 points and eight rebounds, while Ashmore added 13 and Thomas chipped in 12. As a team, the Lutes shot 50 percent from the field and made 16-of-20 free throws.
The Lutes (13-6, 8-2 NWC) will take their three-game winning streak to Salem, Ore. next Friday night when they take on Willamette University at 8:00 p.m.
