NEWBERG, Ore. – The Pacific Lutheran volleyball team couldn't complete a two-set comeback Friday, dropping their final match of the season in four sets to George Fox in Northwest Conference action.
The Lutes (15-9 overall, 10-6 NWC) dropped the match 25-10, 25-15, 13-25, 25-23 to the Bruins (12-10, 9-6).
"We just started so slow out of the gate and George Fox came out on fire," PLU head coach Kevin Aoki said. "I'm proud of how we battled this season and even tonight in sets 3 and 4. This is a great group of young ladies."
Coming into Friday's match, the Lutes had won five in a row and seven of eight, but couldn't overcome the slow start.
PLU did rally for an easy third set victory and nearly erased a 22-19 deficit in the fourth set but the Bruins were able to close it out.
Elle Thomas' 11 kills, six digs and two aces led the Lutes, while Hailey Iha and Baylee Johnson had nine kills each. Liv Evaro had 34 assists and an ace, while Kailee Efros-Boh had four kills and three aces.
Halle Hetzler led the defense with 31 digs, while Madeline Dawson added nine.
