Reisner Powers Lutes Past Panthers, 69-54

NAPLES, Fla. - Jackson Reisner was on fire on Tuesday, sinking six treys and scoring a career-high 24 points as the Pacific Lutheran University men's basketball team closed out the Naples Shootout with a 69-54 victory over LaGrange College.

Reisner hit six of his nine attempts from beyond the arc and shot 70 percent overall (seven-for-10) from the floor to lead all scorers, netting 24 points despite playing just 18 minutes.

The game was tied 12-12 with 12:06 left in the first half before the Lutes (5-5) mounted an 8-0 run over the next three minutes, opening up a 20-12 lead and keeping the Panthers (7-4) at arm's length the rest of the way. A Jordan Thomas layup sparked the run with Resiner scoring the remaining six points, including converting a four-point play after hitting a three and a free throw. PLU led 39-31 at the halftime intermission and led by as many as 21-points in the second half en route to the 15-point win.

Brandin Riedel added 13 points with Thomas adding 11 along with eight rebounds, seven assists, four steals, and three blocks. Sam Noland had eight points with Sean McCurdy hauling in seven rebounds.

"Overall I thought we played really well and responded tremendously to what happened yesterday. We had the opportunity to play with a lead and we were able to get another rep at maintaining our focus and aggressiveness down the stretch to win how we did," said Head Coach Chad Murray.

"Obviously Jackson was a huge spark off the bench for us throughout the game and he shot incredibly well. Jordan Thomas did an exceptional job on #15 who is a great player. Jordan used his length and athleticism to really bother and block a lot of shots. Those two really carried us. In addition I thought both Jack Williams and Brandin did a nice job inside that led to some easy buckets."

PLU outrebouned LaGrange 34-26 while enjoying a 38-30 edge in points in the paint.

"I'm proud of how we handled this trip. We're beginning to figure out who we are and it looks like we can be a pretty good team. I'm already excited to get back at it after Christmas break."

The Lutes are back on the hardwood on Dec. 30, closing out their non-conference slate by hosting Gustavus Adolphus College inside Olson Gymnasium. Tipoff is slated for 3 p.m.
