Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. - The Pacific Lutheran University volleyball team snapped a four-match slide on Saturday evening, steamrolling host Lewis & Clark College 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-18) in a Northwest Conference clash at the Pamplin Sports Center.
"It was great to start playing Lute volleyball again," said Head Coach
Kevin Aoki.
"The team really responded after a tough loss last night and we're upward bound!"
PLU established the tone early in the first set, scoring eight of the first 11 points. The host Pioneers battled back, tying the set at 11 and keeping it tight until the Lutes scored five of the set's final six points, including an
Elle Thomas set point kill for the 25-21 win.
Pacific Lutheran scored seven of the first nine in the second set, including a pair of aces from
Kailee Efros-Bohn and the Lutes never looked back in a 25-16 victory. The Lutes wrapped up the match in three sets, scoring 10 of the final 13 points for the sweep with a
Sydney Aoki ace and a
Olivia Evaro kill the final two points of the night in a 25-18 set win.
Claire Hindman paced the Lutes with nine kills with
Baylee Johnson and Thomas adding eight and seven, respectively. The offense went through
Olivia Evaro who tallied 28 assists while also adding nine digs.
Efros-Bohn finished with five blocks while Aoki had a team-high 16 digs.
The Lutes return to Oregon next weekend, facing Willamette University on Saturday at 6 p.m. in Salem.
