Learn more about Hiniski's Hope Foundation
TACOMA, Wash. - Pacific Lutheran University will join college football programs from around the nation in partnering with Hilinski's Hope Foundation (H3H) for College Football Mental Health Week running from Oct. 1 through Oct. 8.
The Lutes will take the field the next two Saturdays with green wristbands during pregame warmup and wear a green Hilinski's Hope helmet sticker to raise awareness for the foundation and ending the stigma and raise awareness of mental health resources.
This morning, first-year Lute football players listened to a presentation by PLU psychologist DR. Tom Handlan about holistic well-being and all next week @PLUFootball will be posting daily about mental health awareness and the mental health resources available in the community.
The Hilinski's Hope Foundation (H3H) was founded in 2018 by Mark and Kym Hilinski to honor the life of their son Tyler. H3H helps colleges and universities save lives, eliminate stigma, and scale mental wellness programs for student-athletes. H3H does this by sharing Tyler's story, connecting students with mental health resources, and assisting universities to institutionalize best practices.
PLU (1-2) opens Northwest Conference play on Saturday in Newberg, Oregon against George Fox University before hosting Lewis & Clark College on Oct. 8 at Sparks Stadium for Homecoming.
