TACOMA, WASH. --- The Pacific Lutheran Men's Soccer team avenged their tie against the Pacific Boxers earlier in the season as they dominated the Boxers 6-0 at home on Saturday.

With championship aspirations on the horizon, the Lutes offense came out firing with shots early in the game, but none were able to find the back of the net as the Boxers keeper made noteworthy saves.

Controlling the offensive possession throughout the first half, the Lutes fired three consecutive shots with the last coming from senior
Craig Johnson that found the far post in the 19
th minute. But just one minute later, junior
Alex Coope broke the scoring open with a deep shot from outside the box, finding the upper right corner of the Boxers goal; giving the Lutes an early 1-0 lead.

Five minutes later, junior
Trevor Thompson got in the mix with three shots of his own. Two were saved by the Boxers goalkeeper, but the final found the back of the net following a cross from Johnson.

In the 28
th minute, with the Lutes defense allowing just one shot, senior forward
Dane Helle put the Lutes up 3-0, earning an assist for senior
Robby Guyer. Following a Boxers corner kick in the 37
th minute, senior goalkeeper
Nicholas Gaston found Thompson in a deep pass from the defensive zone in which Thompson would go on to score and put the Lutes up 4-0 at the Half.

The Boxers applied some pressure in the second half, firing two shots early, as Gaston earned his second and third assists of the day. In the 59
th minute, Thompson found Johnson open in the Boxers zone, in which Johnson would beat the keeper and give the Lutes a 5-0 lead.

From there, the Lutes reserves would continue to maintain possession and hold the lead, allowing zero shots in the final 20 minutes of the game. Freshman
Owen Bliskis added another goal to his young resume with a goal in the 75
th minute, earning Johnson yet another assist in the game.

Coope and senior
Cole Dobson were credited with yellow cards late in the game, but the Lutes would go on to win 6-0 and earn their third straight shutout.

The offense took a whopping 31 shots in the contest, resulting in 15 on goal. The Boxers took a total of three shots with three on target. Gaston made a total of three saves on the three Boxers attempts. Thompson lead the explosive Lutes offense with two goals and two assists on the day, meanwhile Johnson had one goal and two assists.

The Lutes have their sights set on clinching a conference championship title on senior day tomorrow on East Field at 2:30 p.m. against the Lewis & Clark Pioneers.
