HILLSBORO, Ore. — The Northwest Conference office released the final standings for the McIlroy-Lewis All-Sports Trophy this week with the Pacific Lutheran University athletic department finishing third overall.
The Lutes racked up 215 points across 19 sports over the 2022-2023 academic year, finishing seven points shy of runner-up Whitworth University (222 points). George Fox University won the title with 242 points, including winning seven of the 20 sports sponsored by the conference. PLU's crosstown nemesis University of Puget Sound was a distant fourth with 194 points followed by Linfield University in fifth (190 points).
Whitman College was one point back of Linfield in sixth (189 points) with Pacific University (171 points), Willamette University (170 points), and Lewis & Clark College (165 points) rounding out the poll. In a tight race this year, all nine conference schools won at least one title during the academic year.
PLU racked up 18 points from winning its sixth straight NWC title in women's soccer while netting runner-up finishes in men's cross country, men's soccer, football and softball. The Lutes finished third in the sports of volleyball, women's golf, women's rowing, and men's and women's track & field.
