Volleyball Swamps Bearcats, 3-0

TACOMA, Wash. — The Pacific Lutheran University volleyball squad made quick work of host Willamette University on Friday night, disposing of the Northwest Conference rival 3-0 (25-20, 25-16. 25-16) inside Cone Field House.

"What a team win tonight," said Head Coach Kevin Aoki.

"It was great to get everyone in and play so well. Special shout out to Noe Feliciano who was on fire tonight!"

The host Bearcats (6-12, 5-5 NWC) led early in the opening set but a 6-1 run put the Lutes (12-5, 8-1 NWC) ahead 9-6 on a Ayre Takamoto kill. Willamette retook the lead, enjoying a 13-10 edge before the visiting Lutes tallied seven of the next eight, taking a 17-14 edge on a Alexis Eggert kill. PLU would play with a lead the rest of the set with a Claire Hindman kill netting the Lutes' a 25-20 set win.

Willamette led 5-2 in the second set before the Lutes ripped off eight straight points. PLU would enjoy the lead the rest of the set with a Noe Feliciano kill giving PLU the 25-16 set win.

The third set saw a 13-11 Lute edge mushroom into a 19-11 buffer as the visitors capped off another 25-16 set win on a Feliciano kill to secure the three set sweep.

Claire Hindman paced PLU with nine kills, boasting a .333 attack percentage with Shaela Allen-Greggs netting eight kills. Ayre Takamoto tallied 30 of PLU's 40 assists on the night while also collecting nine digs. Makenna Jackson had a team-high 15 digs and four aces with Sydney Aoki netting 11 digs. 

PLU plays its final game on Oregon soil tomorrow evening, facing Linfield University at 6 p.m. in McMinnville.
