FOREST GROVE, Ore. --- The Pacific Lutheran Men's Soccer team (6-1-3, 4-0-2 NWC) recorded their second consecutive shutout of the season on Sunday, defeating the Pacific University Boxers (4-6-1, 2-4-1 NWC) 4-0.

Senior
Trevor Thompson and the Boxers traded shot attempts in the seventh minute of the opening half, but both were saved by each goalkeeper. Pacific picked up a yellow card in the 19
th minute, which was followed by the Lutes applying pressure on offense. Senior
Craig Johnson's shout ricocheted off the cross bar in the 24
th minute before senior defender
Jordan Ross notched the first goal of the game in the 27
th minute off of a pass from sophomore
Connor O'Brien.

The Boxers would add their second yellow card of the game late in the first half, as
Gracen Connell and Thompson's attempts proved unsuccessful. The Lutes took a 1-0 lead into the break.

The second half brough on more Lutes offensive attempts, with Johnson and
Christian Pineda ripping two shots each before the Boxers could get their first in the 55
th minute. Johnson and Thompson connected in the 61
st minute for the Lutes second score of the day, earning Thompson an assist.

The hard-fought game continued in the ensuing possessions, with the Boxers picking up another yellow card. Johnson drew a foul in the Boxers box, and earned a penalty kick. Johnson continued his perfect record in PK's in his career and extended the Lutes lead to 3-0.

Connell picked up his first yellow card in a Lutes jersey in the 86
th minute, but freshman
Liam Stoner responded with an 88
th minute goal to seal a 4-0 shutout victory for PLU. The Lutes picked up their third consecutive victory in Northwest Conference play.

PLU's offense dominated the majority of the game, taking 14 shots to the Boxers five, meanwhile the Lutes had six on target to Pacific's three. Seniors Johnson and
Trevor Thompson led the Lutes with eight of the team's 14 total shots, with Johnson's two scores propelling the Lutes to their fourth conference victory. In his second shutout of the weekend, Gaston made three saves on five shots faced.

The Lutes return home next weekend, set to face Whitman and Whitworth on Saturday and Sunday on East Field at 12 p.m.
