TACOMA, Wash. — Seven seniors on the Pacific Lutheran University football team were recognized for their commitment to academics this month, earning membership into the National Football Foundation's Hampshire Honor Society.

Earning induction into the society was
Laakea Ane,
Jesse Canda,
Kalen Davis-White,
Nasier Ford,
Nico Golla,
Thomas Jacobs, and
Nico Skinner. The seven Lutes were among the 17 student-athletes from the Northwest Conference to be recognized, joining players from both Lewis & Clark College and Willamette University.

To be eligible for induction into the NFF's Hampshire Honor Society, the player must be a senior with a minimum undergraduate grade point average of 3.2 or better and have been a starter or a significant contributor throughout the season. This spring 2,000 players from 341 schools qualified for the award, setting a record for most inductees in a single year in the program's 18-year history.

Lute Hampshire Society inductees Golla, Davis-White, Ane, and Skinner all earned All-NWC honors this fall with Golla finishing the season as a D3football.com All-Region selection and a CSC Academic All-American.Â

PLU wrapped up the fall with a 5-5 record and a 4-3 mark in NWC action, finishing tied for third in the league standings.Â
