HILLSBORO, Ore. — The Pacific Lutheran University athletic department finishes the 2023-2024 academic year ranked sixth in the Northwest Conference's McIlroy-Lewis All-Sports Trophy Standings released on Monday.

The Lutes tallied 170 points across 16 sports, finishing nine points ahead of Pacific University in sixth place.Â

PLU won three conference titles this year— men's and women's soccer and volleyball— scoring 18 points in each of those sports while netting 14 points from third place finishes from men's track & field and softball. Football tied for third place and received 13 points with men's cross country and women's swimming collecting 12 points for finishing fourth in the league standings.Â

Whitworth University won the overall title with 262 points across the 19 sports while George Fox University was second with 228 points. Whitman College is third with 220 points followed by Linfield University (187 points) and Willamette University (178 points). Pacific was seventh with 161 points followed by University of Puget Sound (157 points) and Lewis & Clark College (133 points).

The Northwest Conference All-Sports Trophy recognizes athletic excellence among Northwest Conference institutions across all fields of competition. It is named in honor of John Lewis, the baseball coach (1947-72), basketball coach (1947-67) and athletics director (1952- 72) at Willamette University; and Jane McIlroy, Linfield College's women's athletics director and physical education professor from 1950-82 who also coached field hockey (1952-81), basketball, volleyball, softball and tennis.
