PORTLAND, Ore. — The Pacific Lutheran University men's soccer team utilized a dominant second half to muscle its way to a 3-1 victory on Saturday against Northwest Conference rival Lewis & Clark College.
The host Pioneers (0-11-2, 0-8-1 NWC) struck first with Ben Schwartz scoring in the 26th minute, a lead Lewis & Clark would take into the locker room at halftime.
Ty Brunner tallied the equalizer five minutes into the second half, scoring off a feed from
Connor O'Brien. The goal was Brunner's fifth of the season O'Brien's team-leading seventh helper of 2025.
Owen Bliskis tallied the game winner in the 67th minute, scoring off an assist from
Alex Coope. It was Bliskis's team-best seven goal of the year and his second game winner of the fall. PLU (7-3-3, 6-0-3 NWC)Â padded its lead in the 76th minute with a Lewis & Clark own goal, cruising to the 3-1 win and extending PLU's unbeaten run to 10 games.
"The guys showed some good resolve to come back and find a way to win in the second half," said Head Coach
John Yorke.
"We had a good start to the game but allowed ourselves to get a little frustrated and lose sight of what we needed to do. A growth area for us is responding better immediately when things aren't going well."
Pacific Lutheran ripped off 29 shots on the night, outgunning Lewis & Clark 11-3 in shots on target.Â
Reigning NWC Defensive Player of the Week
Gio Aguilar-Gutierrez made two saves on the day, playing all 90 minutes. Micaiah Garan made nine saves for the Pios while yielding three goals.
"Overall, great stuff from the guys to find a way to win. Winning is hard so we're always happy to get the three points."
PLU returns to action tomorrow, facing George Fox University at 2:45 p.m.
