LACEY, Wash. — Ten different Lutes scored buckets on Thursday evening as the Pacific Lutheran University men's basketball squad dropped an exhibition game 87-65 to Division II Saint Martin's University.

"We needed this. We've got work to do once we get back from break," said Head Coach Chad Murray.
 
"St. Martin's is incredibly skilled and physical and really challenged us to do the most basic things you sort of take for granted sometimes. This will definitely sharpen our awareness as we look for solutions to some issues they exposed." 

Pacific Lutheran (6-2) entered the exhibition riding a six-game win streak but the host Saints (10-2) were red hot out of the gate, leading wire-to-wire after hitting eight of their first 11 shots and scoring the opening 21 points. PLU settled in during the second half, outscoring the host Saints 36-35 over the final 20 minutes.

Jeremiah Sibley and Dom Perasso led the Lutes, both dropping 11 points. Sibley was four-for-seven from the floor, hitting a trio of threes. Henry Smith had nine points with all nine coming from beyond the arc. Charlie Kapranos led the way with eight rebounds while Smith and Sibley both had a team-best five assists. 

The Lutes are back on the hardwood in 10 days, hosting University of California Santa Cruz on Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. inside Olson Gymnasium.
