TACOMA, Wash. --- The
Pacific Lutheran University softball team had three Lutes recognized for success on the field and in the classroom, as
Jaycie Simpliciano,
Rachel Treves, and
Paige Wilson were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors.
Â
College Sports Communicators recognized the nation's top student-athletes across four divisions for stellar play on the diamond, and a strong grade point average.
Â
Sophomore
Jaycie Simpliciano earned the honor for the first time in her career. The nursing major started 35 of 41 total games played this season, boasting a .342 batting average while slugging .418. A lockdown centerfielder, Simpliciano made the move to center this season, where she had 47 total putouts and a .960 fielding percentage.
Â
Also a nursing major, junior
Rachel Treves balanced a difficult major with 12 appearances inside the circle for the Lutes. Treves earned a 3-2 record, tossing just short of 50-innings this season. The Bellevue, Wash. native had her best earned run average of her three-year career this season, as her 4.09 ERA was highlighted by a no-hitter in the non-conference season.
Â
First Team All-Northwest Conference pitcher
Paige Wilson rounded out the Lutes honors on Tuesday morning. The sophomore threw three no-hitters this season, leading the Lutes with an 11-6 record inside the circle, and earning a 3.01 ERA. Wilson is a graphic design major, who is the lone Lute to have the opportunity to be named Academic All-America by CSC in the coming weeks.
