TACOMA, Wash. — Ty Brunner tallied a goal and an assist as the Pacific Lutheran University men's soccer squad rallied to a 3-1 victory in Sunday's non-conference clash with Lake Forest College at East Field.

The defending Midwest Conference Champion Foresters (0-3) struck first, finding the back of the net in the 30th minute. PLU (1-1) countered 11 minutes later with Brunner scoring his first goal of the season off a feed from Connor O'Brien as the two teams entered halftime tied 1-1.
 
PLU took the lead in the 55th minute with a Gavin Murphy redirect off a Brunner free kick. The Lutes sealed the deal in the 77th minute with Connor O'Brien scoring on a free kick, his second goal in as many games.

"We showed  some excellent progress from Friday's game. Early season you're still working the kinks out and the soccer isn't always it's sharpest, but I thought we definitely showed some improvement in our play," said Head Coach John Yorke.

"The biggest area we wanted to show progress in was in our competitiveness. Friday we worked really hard but maybe didn't compete quite at the level we needed to. I thought we showed some good growth there today." 
 
Pacific Lutheran outshot the Foresters 14-8, including an 8-4 advantage in shots on frame while taking six corners to LFC's one. 

"Ty is a very good player and can be very impactful on the game. It was good to see him have a large influence on how we played today. I also thought Connor was much more involved. Our midfield as a whole was way better and so was the play in front of them. The back line was steady and gave a good effort as well. Overall, a very good team win."

Chris Jamrok earned the start in goal, making two saves in the opening half. Landon Gordon saw his first minutes of the year in the second half, playing all 45 minutes and recording one save.
 
LFC played two keepers as well, racking up five saves and allowing three goals between the two. 
 
PLU hits the road next week, heading to Suburban Chicago for a clash with host Wheaton College to open the Bob Baptista Invitational. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. (Central).
