Pacific Lutheran University Athletics

2021: Won four races for the Lutes this season and placed second in nine other races. Had two career fast times of 29.03 in the 50 yard breaststroke and 59.54 in the 100 yard IM both against UPS.

2019-2020: Competed at the NWC Championships in the 200 IM, 100 back, and 100 free, and the 200 medley, 400 medley, 200 free, and 400 free relays. Received Second Team All-NWC honors with a 4th-place finish in the 200 IM (1:55.66) and an 8th-place finish in the 100 back (51.95), and finished 11th in the 100 free (47.49). Broke school records in 200 medley and 400 free relays.


Previous College: Transferred from Mount San Antonio College in California. Helped the Mounties place third at the CCCAA Championships. Was the state champion in the 100-yard backstroke while finishing 2nd in the 800 free relay, 3rd in the 400 medley relay, 4th in the 200 IM, 5th in the 100 butterfly and 200 medley relay, and 6th in the 400 free relay.

High School: At Los Osos, participated in swimming earning four varsity letters and served as team captain for three years. Trieu also earned his team’s Most Valuable Player award twice. He competes in the Backstroke and Individual Medley events.

Major: Intends on majoring in business marketing with hopes of entering the marketing field. Chose PLU because of its “academics and athletics”.

Personal: Son of Nicole Tran and Jimmy Trieu. Brother to Emily.

Hobbies: Playing Madden, watching movies, and hanging with friends.
