2023: Appeared and started in 36 games for the Lutes. Hit .336 with 29 RBI’s, 37 runs scored, and five home runs. Broke the PLU triples record with 17 career triples. In the field had 104 putouts and two assists. Earned Second Team All-Conference honors.
2022: Appeared and started in 39 games for the Lutes. Hit .353 on the season with 22 RBI's, 32 runs scored, and a homerun. In the field had 103 putouts and a assist. Was named first team all-conference at the end of the season.
2021: Appeared in 31 games for the Lutes, starting in 29 of them. Hit .357 on the season, scored 28 runs for the Lutes and led the team with three triples. In the field had 44 putouts and one assist. Was named all-conference honorable mention at the end of the season.
2020: Appeared and made the start in all 13 games for the Lutes. Hit .157 on the season with four doubles and 3 RBI’s. Also recorded 25 putouts in the field.
2019: Appeared in 41 games for the Lutes. Accumulated a .333 batting average with 51 hits including 3 doubles, 3 triples, and a home run. Had a season-high 3 hits against Pacific on April 15. Earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors and was named NWC Freshman of the Year.
High School: At North Marion High School, Schmitz was a four-sport athlete competing in football, cross country, basketball, and baseball, earning 11 varsity letters. Was a team captain for two seasons on the ballpark. As a senior, named First Team All-State and All-League and Oregon 4A All-Star Series MVP. As a junior, earned first team all-state and all-league honors. As a sophomore, was first team all-league and honorable mention all-state. Earned all-league honorable mention as a freshman. Away from the diamond, he’s involved with Key Club.
Major: Plans on majoring in accounting with hopes of becoming an accountant. Chose PLU “for the strong baseball and business programs..”
