Who is Lancelute?
Lancelute is the official mascot of Pacific Lutheran University, appearing at numerous PLU Athletics games and other university events throughout the school year.
The new Lancelute debuted in winter 2016 and has instantly become a fan favorite. When representing the Lute, Lancelute plays a key role in helping to build the excitement of Lute Legion, while always doing so in a spirited, yet classy manner.

Skill Requirements
- Must be spirited and enthusiastic
- Must have strong leadership skills
- Must be accountable, timely, and responsible
- Must have a basic ability to carry a rhythm
- Must be positive and respect students, fans, visiting student-athletes, coaches, and advisors
- Must be at ease with interaction with fans of all ages, especially children
- Must be able to improvise and animate in costume without using speech
- Must demonstrate a level of imagination and creativity conducive to a positive collegiate sports environment
Expectations
- Ability to balance a demanding schedule that includes working days (minimal) night, weekends, and class schedules
- Perform at home events (Football, Volleyball, Men’s and Women’s Basketball, select other sport appearances based on weather and schedule)
- Attend University and Community appearances, as neededÂ
Commitment
- Must be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
- Must be available for new student move in and orientation starting September 1, 2017
- Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
- Must commit to the entire of the athletic year (fall, winter, and spring sports)
Benefits
- $11.15 an hour
- Under Armour pre-game attire
- Affiliation with a NCAA Division III Athletics Department
- Season pass to all Lute home games (when not working)
