The Pacific Lutheran University athletic department is excited to welcome 140 student-athletes as part of the incoming Lute recruiting class for the fall of 2019. This year's recruiting class features student-athletes from three different continents, three foreign countries, and 12 states. Of the 2019 Lutes, 94 are male and 46 are female. The state of Washington leads the way with the most recruits with 88 hailing from within the state while Hawaii sits second with 22 recruits. Oregon accounts for 13 while six hail from California. Fourteen of the incoming Lutes are transfer students.
Football leads the way with 57 incoming players, followed by women's soccer, men's soccer and baseball each with 11 recruits. Seventeen new Lutes will be two-sport student-athletes. Men's Soccer has two international players joining the team in 2019. Â
The 140 incoming Lutes just represents those who have already deposited by May 1 as all 19 intercollegiate programs continue to recruit through the summer months.
The 140 new Lutes are a welcome addition to an athletic department that won five Northwest Conference Team Championships and six Individual Championships during the 2018-2019 academic year. PLU Athletics is proud that all 19 out of 19 varsity sports are above a 3.0 grade point average and the average cumulative GPA for at the department is a 3.34.
