Anthony Hicks, a member of the PLU Athletics Hall of Fame and the 1999 National Championship team, returns to his alma mater as an assistant coach in the spring of 2022.

Hicks joins the Lutes with considerable coaching experience at the high school level. Hicks served as an assistant coach at Bellarmine Prep the past four seasons, helping the team compile a 33-15 record. Prior to Bellarmine, Hicks was an assistant at Tumwater High School, helping the Tides go 22-3 during his tenure.

Hicks was the Co-Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator for Timberline High School from 2009 to 2014 and was the Head Coach of Rainier High School from 2006-2007. Hicks additionally had coaching stints at Capital High School (2008), Olympia High School (2002-2005), and Washington High School (200-2001).

A 2022 PLU Athletics Hall of Fame Inductee, Hicks ranks fourth all-time in career rushing yards (2,536) and fifth in scoring (228). A Second Team All-American in 1999, Hicks led the Lutes to their fourth national title, winning five road games to win the NCAA Division III Championship. His historic 1999 season included single season record for rushing yards (1,633), points (162), and touchdowns (27).Â

Hicks helped the Lutes compile a 21-3 record in his two seasons on campus, winning the Northwest Conference title in 1998.

Hicks graduated PLU in 2000 with a bachelor degree in fine arts.
