Tyler Copp returns to PLU as an assistant coach with the men's basketball program prior to the 2022-2023 season.
No stranger to PLU, Copp served as an assistant coach for the Lutes’ men’s basketball program during the 2017-2018 season, helping lay the groundwork with Head Coach Chad Murray on a program that won its first Northwest Conference title since 1986 this winter.
In addition to coaching with the Lutes, Copp spent the previous four years at the Division I level with Oregon State University. Copp started in 2018 as the Director of Video before being promoted to the Director of Player Personnel in 2020. His time at OSU saw the Beavers win the Pac 12 Conference Tournament and advance to the NCAA Elite Eight in 2021.
Copp was a four-year starter on the basketball court for Division II Saint Martin’s University, serving as team captain for three seasons. He was an Honorable Mention All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference selection in 2017, finishing his career with 1,108 points. Copp averaged 16.3 points per game in his senior campaign, guiding the Saints to their first ever GNAC Tournament appearance.
Along with his role as an assistant with the men's basketball program, Copp will also serve as the head coach of the PLU men's and women's golf programs.
Copp graduated from SMU in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in history.
