Biography

2021: Played in three games for the Lutes. Totaled 21 tackles including 2 for a loss, 1.5 sacks and 2 pass breakups.

2019: Appeared in all nine games for the Lutes. Recorded 52 tackles on the season and forced two fumbles recovering one of them. Was named All Conference Honorable Mention.

2018: Appeared in eight games for the Lutes. Recorded 16 tackles including 2.5 TFL, and 1 sack. Had a season high 4 tackles against Lewis & Clark. 

2017: Was a member of the PLU football team.

High School: At Woodland High School, he was a four-year letterwinner on the football field, spending two years as team captain while earning MVP honors once. He missed his senior season due to injury. As a junior, he was first-team All-League linebacker, as well as first-team All-Area. He was All-League, and second-team All-Area as a sophomore. Away from the field, he volunteered at Woodland Food Bank. 

Major: Sociology

Personal: Son of Kristina Payne, stepdad Jamey Newland, and Charles Thomas. Is a sister to Jacy Thomas.
