Daisha Acorda joined the PLU athletic department in December of 2020 as an assistant athletic trainer.
"I couldn't be more excited to be a part of the PLU athletics family. I'm grateful to Jen Thomas and Todd Yamauchi, as well as the entire search committee for their belief in me and providing me this opportunity. I look forward to getting to know the student-athletes and to contribute to the integrated health care program,” said Acorda.
Acorda joins the Lute athletic department with considerable experience, having worked in athletic training rooms at the Division I, Division III, NAIA, and high school ranks. Acorda most recently worked at ATI Physical Therapy in Lakewood, serving as the primary health care provider for the Clover High School athletic department. Prior to ATI, Acorda had stints in the athletic training rooms as Northwest Conference rival Willamette University, NAIA Corban University, and Division I Portland State University.
Acorda graduated from Oregon Institute of Technology in 2017 with a degree in population health management and a minor in psychology and medical sociology. While at OIT, Acorda worked in the athletic training room and was a member of the Owls’ women’s soccer team. Acorda went on to receive a masters degree in athletic training from Pacific University in 2019.
Acorda has additionally done work with Special Olympics Oregon and the USA Basketball Nike Hoop Summit and is an active member of both the National Athletic Trainer’s Association and the Washington State Athletic Trainer’s Association.
