Pat Licari joined the PLU track & field staff as an assistant prior to the 2019 season.

Licari comes to the Lutes with a laundry list of accolades. He has coached three Olympians and two gold medalists at the IAAF World Championships, along with competitors that have competed on the international stage in the Commonwealth Games, Pan-Am Games, and the Central American-Caribbean Games. 
 
No stranger to the collegiate ranks, Licari served as an assistant coach at the University of Washington since 1997. That span saw Licari's vaulters win seven national championships, 31 conference titles, and earn 62 All-American honors, while serving as a coach for current American record holder Brad Walker. He was the 2012 National Coach of the Year and his pole vaulters have scored over 40 percent of the Huskies total points at the NCAA Championships during his tenure.
 
Prior to Washington, Licari served as the head cross country and track & field coach at Highline Community College from 1991-1996.
 
Licari earned an associate of arts degree from Highline CC and a bachelor of science degree in physical education and health from Washington State University. While at WSU, he was an All-Pac 10 honoree in the pole vault.
