Jai Alapai joins the PLU football coach staff as an assistant defensive backs coach prior to the 2024 season and was promoted to the defensive backs coach prior to the 2025 campaign.Â
A member of the Lute football team for five seasons (2019-2023), Alapai played in 35 games and recorded 33 solo tackles and 24 assisted tackles along with one fumble recovery.
A two-sport star, Alapai was also a member of the Lutes' track & field squad. On the track, Alapai finished third at the NWC Championships as a member of the PLU 4x400-meter relay in 2021 and was ninth at the 2022 Championships in the 200-meters.Â
Alapai graduated in 2024 with a degree in education.Â
