Pacific Lutheran University Athletics

Mark Albanese joined the Pacific Lutheran University staff as the director of sports communication in July of 2016 after spending the previous four years as the assistant athletic director for sports media relations at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

While at UW-Parkside, Albanese served as the primary media contact for the department’s 15 Division II athletic programs while also serving as the play-by-play announcer for road basketball contests. He spearheaded a website redesign and played an integral role in the rollout of a new athletics logo while serving as the host media contact at NCAA Championship events in men’s basketball, cross country, men’s golf, and women’s soccer.

Prior to UW-Parkside, Albanese spent four years as the assistant sports information director at North Central College in suburban Chicago, serving as the primary contact for 11 of the college’s 22 sports. During his time at the NCAA Division III institution, Albanese assisted in the redesign of the athletics website, co-authored a 94-page “History of Athletics” book in conjunction with the College’s sesquicentennial celebration, and was on-site covering national championship winning teams in indoor track & field (2010, 2011, 2012) and cross country (2011).

Albanese was an assistant at Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin during the 2007-2008 academic year and spent two summers working for the Northwoods League’s Madison Mallards, helping the team lead the nation in collegiate summer baseball attendance, averaging over 6,000 fans a game.

A member of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) since 2008, Albanese graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the spring of 2007 with a degree in marketing. While at UW-Whitewater, he was a member of the track & field team and was the recipient of the Chancellor's Scholar Athlete Award in 2007. Albanese also served as a student assistant for the sports information office during the 2006-2007 school year and was a volunteer at the 2004 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships.
