Matthew Beal returns to his alma mater as an assistant coach prior to the 2018 season. Beal was a three-sport athlete for the Lutes, participating in cross country, swimming, and track & field. Beal has previous coaching experience at Gig Harbor High School where he served as an assistant coach for the cross country, swimming, and track programs. He helped the Gig Harbor boys cross country team to a 4A state title in 2014 as an assistant. 

A USA certified Coach from USA Swimming and a Track & Field Academy Level 1 Coach, Beal received a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology with a pre-physical therapy concentration and a minor in biology and religion while also earning a bachelor of arts degree in psychology with a concentration in social psychology.
