CLAREMONT, Calif. - Pacific Lutheran finished off a strong
showing during a five-game California road trip with a 3-2
non-conference softball win over host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on
Thursday afternoon.
Ramona Lorton pitched a complete game to pick up the victory and
Stacey Hagensen collected three hits and drove in all three runs
for the Lutes (14-6). PLU finished the trip with a 4-1
record.
PLU scored twice in the first when Hagensen's base hit plated
Amber Roberts and Caitlin Brown. Hagensen drove in Roberts in
the fifth inning to give the visitors a 3-0 lead before CMS
(19-5) rallied with single runs in the fifth and sixth frames.
Lorton, who improved her season record to 7-1, allowed two
earned run on nine hits while striking out four and walking
three.
In addition to Hagensen's hitting heroics, Roberts had a pair of
singles and stole two bases. Lauren Watson, Kaely Cuthill and Brown
all had base hits as the Lutes finished the game with eight
safeties.
