Watt, Moore Earn Postseason Recognition

Trey Watt and Corey Moore capped off their outstanding 2010 baseball seasons by earning American Baseball Coaches Association All-West Region honors. In addition, Watt earned the Gold Glove Award as the region's top fielding pitcher.

Watt (Tualatin, Ore. / Tualatin HS) earned second team All-West Region honors after compiling a 9-1 record and a 2.81 earned run average during his senior season. Watt started 12 games, completing two, and struck out 67 batters while walking just 21 in 86 1/3 innings of work. Opponents hit .248 against him this season.

In addition to receiving the second team honor, Watt received the Gold Glove Award after handling 29 total chances without an error.

Moore (University Place, Wash. / Curtis HS), who was selected to the all-region third team, started the season as a reserve infielder but made the starting second base position his own when Carl Benton went down with an injury. Moore finished the season with a .395 batting average, 41 runs scored, 14 doubles, two homers and 38 runs batted in. Additionally, the sophomore committed just four errors while compiling a .973 fielding percentage.

Both Watt (for the third time) and Moore earned first team All-Northwest Conference honors while helping lead the Lutes to an 18-6 record and a second-place finish in the conference standings. PLU finished 30-10 overall in 2010, the program's third 30-win season in the last four years. Prior to the 2007 season when Pacific Lutheran won its first league baseball title since 1954, the record for most wins in a season by a PLU team was 26 set in 1994.
