PORTLAND, Ore. - Pacific Lutheran collected 26 hits in 10 innings to sweep a Northwest Conference softball doubleheader from host Lewis & Clark College on Sunday afternoon.
The Lutes (24-10 overall, 18-4 conference) took 9-0 and 13-2 wins against Lewis & Clark (7-26, 1-20), both of which ended after five innings because of the run rule.
Stacey Hagensen picked up the pitching win in the opener and also collected two of PLU's 12 hits. Kaaren Hatlen, Katie Lowery, Haley Harshaw and Ami Gran also had two hits apiece for the Lutes. Lowery hit a solo home run in the second inning and Gran collected a two-run homer two batters later. Gran also had a run-scoring double in the fourth inning to finish the game with three RBI, while both Lowery and Hatlen had a pair of runs batted in.
Ally VanSchoorl was the winning pitcher in the second game, going three innings and allowing both Lewis & Clark runs. Jackie Martinez pitched the final two innings, allowing only one hit.
The PLU offense provided 14 hits in support of the pitchers, with Amanda Goings, Hagensen and Hatlen all contributing three hits from the No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4 spots in the order. As a result, Goings scored three runs, Hagensen scored four, and Hatlen scored two.
Hagensen had a two-run homer and Hatlen added a solo shot to get the Lutes going in the first inning, and both players finished the game with three RBI.
