Intermittent rain, two long rain delays and finally an unplayable field has caused the suspension of a Saturday afternoon Northwest Conference softball game between Pacific Lutheran and Linfield.
The visiting Wildcats will take an 8-3 lead into the top of the seventh inning when the game is resumed at a time and date to be agreed upon by the two schools.
Saturday's opening game of the conference doubleheader started on time at noon, but rain forced a 36-minute rain delay in the top of the second inning, and after play resumed, another 36-minute delay in the third inning.
Linfield held a 3-1 lead but broke the game open with a five-run sixth inning, highlighted by Katy Brosig's two-run homer.
Pacific Lutheran's conference doubleheader against Willamette will go on as scheduled Sunday, with first pitch scheduled for noon. Prior to the start of the game, seven PLU seniors will be honored on Senior Day.
