Lutes compete at Pioneer Invitational

ESTACADA, Ore. – The Pacific Lutheran cross country teams concluded the 2014 regular season Saturday at the Pioneer Invitational at McIver State Park.

Genevieve Brandt was PLU's top finisher in the women's 6k, placing 41st with a time of 24:35.9. Amie Wilson followed in 64th place (25:15), with Eyerusalem Betemariam taking 73rd (25:25). As a team the PLU women tallied 261 points to take ninth. Whitworth won the team title with 48 points, while Mt. Hood C.C.'s Georgia Glovatsky won the individual title with a time of 22:20.7.

Charles Mogen was PLU's top placer in the men's 8k, taking 81st with a time of 27:45.6. Brendon Bonnell placed 102nd for the Lutes (28:22.5) and Matthew Macfarlane took 106th (28:33.2). The PLU men totaled 446 points to place 16th in the team standings. Northwest Christian won the team title with 82 points, with Concordia's Matthew Clowes winning the individual title in a time of 24:50.2.

PLU will return to Oregon in two weeks, as the Lutes will take on the rest of the Northwest Conference programs at the NWC Championships on Nov. 1 in Salem.
