Lutes finish 2014 season at NCAA Div. III West Region Championships

SALEM, Ore. – The Pacific Lutheran cross country teams wrapped up the 2014 fall season Saturday morning at the NCAA Div. III West Region Championship meet hosted by Willamette University at Bush Park.

The PLU women's team combined for 444 points to place 16th in the team standings. Genevieve Brandt was the Lutes' top finisher, placing 67th with a time of 24:24.1 on the women's 6k course. Amanda Seely placed 93rd with a time of 25:18.7, followed immediately by Shailee R. Woodard (25:19.3). Amie Wilson placed 97th (25:22.1) and Eyerusalem Betemariam placed 98th (25:24.4), while Mekenzie Voellger took 106th (25:50.4) and Hannah Walton placed 107th (25:58).

Willamette placed three runners in the top five to claim the regional championship with a team score of 31. Pomona-Pitzer's Maya Weigel finished first overall with a time of 22.11.1. Charles Mogen represented the PLU men in the 8k, finishing 88th with a time of 27:52. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps won the team title with a score of 46, while Occidental's John Guzman won the individual crown with a time of 25:16.
