Bruins pull away in second half to defeat Lutes 89-36

NEWBERG, Ore. – Tenth-ranked George Fox took a 15-point lead into halftime and pulled away to an 89-36 Northwest Conference women's basketball victory over Pacific Lutheran Friday night at Wheeler Sports Center.

The loss drops Pacific Lutheran's record to 3-8 overall and 0-2 in conference play, while George Fox improves to 12-0 overall and 3-0 in the NWC. The Lutes return to action Saturday against Lewis & Clark, with tipoff set for 4 p.m.

Jori Hall scored 13 of PLU's 36 points, making six of her eight shot attempts while also grabbing a team-high six rebounds in 19 minutes of play. Jami Morris led George Fox with 16 points as four Bruins scored in double figures.

George Fox used a 16-point streak to pull ahead 20-4 early in the first period and then scored 10 more in a row after a PLU basket to go up 30-6. Hall ended the run with consecutive baskets for the Lutes to spark a 10-point PLU run. A three-pointer by Madison Green-Hayward pulled PLU within 13 points at 34-21 before the Bruins scored one more jumper to go into the break up 36-21. The Bruins scored 12 straight points early in the second period and pulled away to the big win.
