Fourth-ranked George Fox runs away from PLU 85-49

PARKLAND – George Fox extended its undefeated run through the Northwest Conference, as the fourth-ranked Bruin women defeated Pacific Lutheran 85-49 Saturday evening at Names Family Court.

The loss dropped Pacific Lutheran's record to 4-17 overall and 1-11 in conference play. George Fox improved to 21-0 overall and 12-0 in the NWC. PLU heads to Oregon for the final road trip of the season next weekend, as the Lutes will visit Willamette on Friday at 6 p.m. and Linfield on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Michaela Edgers shot a perfect 5-of-5 for the night to tally a career-best 10 points, with her line of 10 points and five rebounds tying Lacey Nicholson. Kate Kramer also scored 10 points to establish a career-best scoring output, while Bailey Raines scored nine for the Lutes.

Lauren Codling made all seven of her shot attempts and hit all five of her free throw attempts to score 19 points while grabbing 12 rebounds to post a double-double. Jami Morris added 17 points for the Bruins.

George Fox shot 45.2 percent overall for the game (28-of-62) and made 26 of 37 attempts at the free throw line (70.3 percent). The Bruins attempted 25 more free throws than PLU did, as PLU went 6-of-12 at the line (50 percent) to go with an overall shooting line of 20-of-52 (38.5 percent).

The teams combined for 46 fouls, while George Fox built a 44-32 rebounding advantage and a 30-17 turnover advantage. PLU led briefly in the opening minutes, but George Fox built a 42-22 halftime lead and out-scored the Lutes 43-27 in the second half.
