Box Score TUCSON, Ariz. -- Pacific Lutheran saw its perfect start to the 2015 baseball season come to an end Sunday as the Lutes closed out the Tucson Invitational Games with a 9-5 loss to La Verne.
Landon Packard's bases-loaded double put PLU up 4-1 early, but the Lutes let La Verne tie it in the bottom of the third and added five more runs between the fifth and sixth innings to claim the win in the rematch of Friday's season opener for both teams.
Garrett Brown started and pitched four innings for the Lutes, while Cory Nelson came on in relief in the fifth inning and went the rest of the way for PLU. Six defensive errors proved to be the Lutes' undoing in their final game down in Arizona.
A complete box score for Sunday's game was not immediately available. Pacific Lutheran wraps up the weekend with a 3-1 record and heads to Portland next weekend for the Concordia Tournament.
