TACOMA, Wash. - The 18th-ranked Pacific Lutheran University volleyball squad picked up its third consecutive straight sets victory on Saturday evening, steamrolling Northwest Conference nemesis Willamette University 3-0 (25-10, 25-16, 25-16) inside Olson Gymnasium.
The Lutes (17-3, 10-2 NWC) was nearly untouchable in the opening set, ripping off the opening four points and 13 of the first 15 to cruise to the 25-10 win. The Bearcats (9-12, 6-6 NWC) took an early 8-6 edge in the second set and trailed just 17-16 before the Lutes tallied the next eight points to secure the 25-16 set win. Willamette tallied the opening point of the third set before the Lutes scored the next three and never trailed the rest of the way to secure the 25-16 win to wrap up the match.
"Again we came out to play and didn't allow Willamette to get any momentum," said Head Coach
Kevin Aoki.
Mackenzie Harris powered the Lute offense with 11 kills while also adding four blocks.
Chloe Epker had eight kills and 11 digs while
Isabella Zubrod had eight kills and 20 assists.
Caylie Shiramizu led the team with 18 digs, including a dig-to-kill to score the final point of the match.
The Lutes remain at home next weekend, hosting Whitman College at 7 p.m.
