SALEM, Oregon – The No. 9 Pacific Lutheran volleyball team swept its way to victory Saturday, rallying to take down host Willamette by scores of 25-7, 25-20, and 27-25 to remain undefeated in Northwest Conference play.
"We came out and really played well in the first set to make it difficult for Willamette," said head coach
Kevin Aoki. "It was good to see us pull out the last set to finish the match."
The Lutes (11-1, 4-0 Northwest Conference) opened the night with a 10-0 run on its way to a 25-7 set win. The Bearcats (5-8, 2-2 NWC) built a 7-3 lead in the final set before the Lutes evened things up, but it was still tight all the way to the end.
Senior
Chloe Epker kick started the scoring and amassed 10 kills, 15 digs, and three aces during the match.
Lauren Wilson and
Mackenzie Harris each added nine kills, while
Isabella Zubrod recorded 14 assists on the night.
"We are looking forward to our eastern Washington trip as both of the Whits are tough teams."
In addition to Epker,
Emily Dulaney (2) and
Caylie Shiramizu recorded aces.
The Lutes continue to play on the road next weekend as they head to eastern Washington to take on Whitman College and Whitworth University.
