Box Score MCMINNVILLE, OREGON – Pacific Lutheran University's women's soccer team completed a road trip sweep with a 1-0 victory at Linfield University on Sunday. The Lutes move to 3-1 in Northwest Conference play.
"Our group hung tough and gained a real measure of grit by going through this. It's still very early in NWC play but this experience will definitely help us down the road," said Head Coach
Seth Spidahl. "We know we can be on the road, on day 2, against a good opponent and still find a way to win."
The Lutes covered a lot of the field in the first half, taking four of the first five shots, but were unable to find the back of the net. It wasn't until the 48' that sophomore
Maddie Landreth found the back of the net to score her first goal of the season and what ended up being the decision maker for the match.
"This team has done something that no other PLU team I have coached has done, which is win on Linfield's home grass field. They are good which is why they were undefeated in conference play. They are athletic, physical, and direct. They put some real pressure on us in the last 10 minutes with their set piece service. I'm very proud of our team today."
Natalie Robinson played the full 90 minutes in goal for the Lutes, recording two saves.
The women get back on the field this upcoming Saturday, Sept. 29 against Lewis and Clark in Portland, Oregon.
